Two poor boys from tribal communities who made Bidar proud by gaining admission to IITs , will now receive help from the government.

Deepak Kumar Dattatri, the son of a BSF soldier from Gadlegaon – B village,

and Sandeep Kumar Hanumant, whose father is a milk man in Gogga village, will get education loans by the Department of Social Welfare.

“Karnataka State SC/ ST Corporation will give them loans to cover all their expenses,” Eshwar Khandre, Minister for Municipal Administration and district in-charge minister told The Hindu.

I have already spoken to social welfare Minister H. Anjaneya and secretary Gangaram Baderiya. They have agreed to the proposal. Rashtriya Madhyamika Shiksha Abhiyan commissioner P.C. Jaffer is coordinating with the families and corporation apart from keeping the necessary paper work ready, the minister said.

Philanthropists have extended financial assistance. Bengaluru-based engineer and NIT alumnus B. Kranti Kumar had begun a social media campaign to raise funds for them.

While Deepak is joining bio chemical engineering in IIT Kharagpur, Sandeep is getting admission in material sciences in IIT Madras. They are the only two boys from Bidar to make it to the premier institutions this year.
