Congress leaders against encroachment clearance drive in Bidar

Source: the Hindu :-

Congress leaders from Bidar on Wednesday complained against the ongoing encroachment clearance drive to District in-charge minister Umasree.

At a meeting in the Congress office, MLA Rahim Khan made an emotional speech saying he did not want to continue as the MLA, "when traders and owners of commercial complexes were suffering." Demanding that the drive should be immediately stopped, Mr. Khan threatened to resign.

Mohammad Saleemoddin, party leader, sought the transfer of Deputy Commissioner Anurag Tewari and City Municipal Council Commissioner Gurudatt Hegde.

Ms. Umasree said officials had to follow established procedure if they were to clear encroachments. She also said she would carry their concerns to the Chief Minister.

District Congress president Khaji Arshed Ali , MLC Vijay Singh and others were present.
