Naga sadhus gather at Sri Sadguru Sadanand Swami Mutt in Basavakalyan town in Bidar district on Thursday morning to elect a seer

BIDAR: Police dispersed hundreds of Naga sadhus from Sri Sadguru Sadanand Swami Mutt in Basavakalyan town of Bidar district on Thursday morning while conducting a programme to elect one of them as the mutt seer. Hundreds of Naga sadhus have been picketing the mutt for the past one month claiming that it was their traditional mutt.

The Mutt Prabhandhak Samiti lodged a complaint against the sadhus at Basavakalyan town police station and urged them to evict the sadhus from the mutt.

The police acted on the complaint and resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse the crowd.
