‘Incredible India’ at IFFI
India is a country with diverse cultures and regions. ‘Incredible India’ has been the tag line to promote tourism all across the country highlighting its serenity, ecstasy and beauty. International Film Festival of India in its 42nd edition included films that depict the beauty of India through its three films in the section “Incredible India”.
The first film ‘Chadar’ directed by Prashant Sareen beautifully portrays Ladakh and its environs. Tucked away in the Zanskar valley of Ladakh lies the most spectacular trade routes that connect the villages to the capital Leh. Though it is not so well known as most of the larger trade routes, but it is a compelling and exciting journey.
The next film ‘Karnataka Tourism’ directed by Kiran Carriappa taces the journey of a young traveller through Karnataka in South India. Starting with cosmopolitan Bangalore, the film travels to Bidar and Gulbarga. The adventure sports of Dandeli, the dense forests with glimpses of wildlife in the area complete the experience. The film was adjudged as the best tourism film at the National Tourism Awards.
The film, ‘A World of Beauty and Grace’ directed by Benoy K Behl traces the architecture of Islamic mosques and tombs. The confluence of local talent with inspirations from Iran, Arabia and Central Asia has also been highlighted in this film.
